The Overtime Theater Presents:

THE LAST BROADCAST OF BAILEY AND LONG - July 23 - August 14, 2010

It's 1947 and America's most popular syndicated radio show is ending. One of its stars, Jack Long, is moving on, about to get his own show on the new medium of television. The cast and crew of the show, including his trailblazing partner, writer/performer Carole Bailey, must make decisions about the future while trying to produce the best last broadcast ever aired.

With snappy dialogue and songs of the period, The Last Broadcast will tickle your funny bone and warm your heart.

July 30 - "MST3K Screening at OT - Manos: The Hands of Fate"

The Overtime will show an MST3K classic, "Manos: The Hands of Fate" on Friday, July 30th at 10pm, for our Friday Night Movie Series.

From the Wikipedia Entry:

Manos: The Hands of Fate (1966) is an American horror film written, directed, produced by, and starring Harold P. Warren. It is widely recognized to be one of the worst films ever made. In 1993, television comedy series Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K), a show based on the premise of mocking B movies, featured Manos: The Hands of Fate, giving the film cult status.

The plot of the film revolves primarily around a vacationing family who lose their way on a road trip. After a long drive in the Texas desert, the family is trapped at a lodge maintained by a polygamous pagan cult, and they attempt to escape as the cult's members decide what to do with them. The film is technically deficient with significant editing flaws; its soundtrack and visuals are not synchronized, and several scenes are inexplicable or unconnected to the overall plot.

Harold Warren was a fertilizer salesman from El Paso, Texas who produced the film as a result of a bet. He also starred in it, alongside El Paso theater actors Tom Neyman and John Reynolds. Manos was an independent production by a crew that had little or no background or experience in filmmaking and a very limited budget at their disposal. Upon its theatrical debut, the film was poorly received, and remained obscure until its Mystery Science Theater appearance.

DR "S" BATTLES THE SEX CRAZED REEFER ZOMBIES: THE MOVIE: THE MUSICAL - October 8 - November 6, 2010

A new musical based on the award-winning hit local film! The film-turned-musical recounts the tale of Mary Jane, an all-American sweetheart who goes parking with her boyfriend, Billy. When he smokes some atomic reefer and transforms into a sex-crazed zombie, it's up to our hero, Dr S, to save the day! Dr S and Mary Jane battle their way back into town in a blood-soaked, fight-filled extravaganza of pain, gore, and rock!

After the movie by Film Classics had screened at festivals across the nation and even in Leeds, England, the Overtime Theater showed it last winter to a packed house. The idea was formed to turn it into a live stage musical guaranteed to rock the socks off the audience. Doctor S Battles the Sex Crazed Reefer Zombies: The Movie: The Musical will take the story to even more outlandish heights with the script and lyrics by the original team of director Bryan Ortiz and writers Evan Boston and James Hartz.
